The language expert behind Korea's “geureosiguna”
Cristina Confalonieri is an Italian TV personality and language expert who works fluently in Italian, English, French and Korean. Korean viewers first loved her on KBS2's Misuda (Global Talk Show) for her distinctive voice and warmth, and she has been active on TV, as a speaker and at events ever since.
Her “bomiguna~” (“it's spring~”) video has drawn 9.2 million views, and her line “geureosiguna” (“oh, I see”) became a nationwide meme, then a 2026 song with Yoo Jae-pil that took her to SBS's Inkigayo. Her TV work includes King of Mask Singer and Radio Star (MBC), Knowing Bros (JTBC) and Oh Eun-young's Golden Counseling Center (Channel A).
She studied law and international law at the Università Cattolica in Milan and international relations at UC San Diego, and interned at EU headquarters before moving to Korea. In Korea she has headed Seoul's Yeoksam Global Village Center, taught as an adjunct professor at the Catholic University of Korea's College of Law and taught Italian at universities including Seoul National, Yonsei and HUFS. She has received an award from the President of Italy.
After many years in Korea, Cristina calls it her second home. Her talk Global Culture Global Mind, which compares multicultural Korea with Italy, is a regular at public libraries, universities and public events. She has also published an English-language children's book, The Secret School of Magic: The Magic Within Will Rise.
